The 4th day of the Moda Designers Blog Hop has arrived and I am thrilled to get the chance to say Thank You for allowing me to be a part of your quilting experiences!
Winter has arrived here in MI and we have been blessed with our first “Snow Day”.
I call it an unexpected gift from Mother Nature that covers the earth with a soft blanket of snow and invites us for a day of fun.
Our ”Sled Dog” in his favorite sweater…
OK, he’s clearly a slightly spoiled “Sled Dog”.
SO much fun to have making “Snow Angels”… or having a snowball fight!
Now time to play inside, holidays are coming and I am finishing last minute projects using my new collection “Snow Day” – what a coincidence! This wonderful group of batiks in winter night blues, hot milk lights, chestnut browns, and fun images of a special day just arrived on my doorstep. (Available in shops next summer)
For me, this is a great inspiration to create beautiful quilts during a play-day in my sewing room; small projects like the table runners above and also bigger ones like the ”Snowflake” quilt below. Patterns for each will be available soon.
Holidays are all about giving, let’s start with a recipe card for this cute block that
I call “Funnel Cake“.
I used the block on the front of the Small-Big Tote which was featured
in my Country Fair Post.
I also love what Lissa (right side) and Debbie (hiding behind quilt) did with all of the recipe card blocks, creating this beautiful sampler quilt. The fabrics in the borders and binding are from my “Indian Summer” collection which is available in stores right now.

Oh how I love the pictures of the snow. Only in Michigan! Originally from there, I just loved your pics and your blog. My Christmas wish is for our family to have a peaceful, joyous holiday together. I lost my mom last year right before Christmas so it has been a hard year. Going back to MI for Christmas this year will be busy yet fun with our 20 month old grandson. What beautiful pictures of your first snow….glad it’s you and not me….I live in Louisiana where when it snows we call everyone we know because it only does it once in a blue moon…except a couple of years ago it did it twice in one year and I told everyone I was moving further south….I love sewing in the heat and humidity with the ac going. I am absolutely certain that in my former life I was a bear and I hibernated all winter. I love the new fabric line and thank you for giving us the chance to win. Have a Merry Christmas.

I am very blessed and thankful, but my wish is that my mother-in-law’s health might improve. She is an amazing woman. She endures severe pain from advanced arthritis, but she very seldom complains. She is a prime example of mind over matter. She is always proud of my quilting projects. I lost my own mother 16 years ago, so it’s great to have someone in my life who treats me like I am her daughter.

I run a charity for underprivileged kids and my wish is the same every year, let the list get smaller so these parents have less worries. It sounds pretty corny, but if I call someone and they say they don’t need our help this year it’s cause for a real celebration.

Believe it or not as a former Michigander my wish is for the state of MI to regain its economic prosperity. Michigan is the state that helped the US win the 2nd war and it is essential for economic prosperity now. Now that I live in Idaho my second wish is for some of the MI snow.The blue colors for next winter’s collection are gorgeous Than you for the contest.

My Christmas wish is that everyone has a wonderful Christmas. Times are tough right now, but everyone can do little things to make the holiday special, like bring a favorite dish for Christmas dinner or do a favor for someone. That’s what I’m going to try to do. Plus share a little with the less fortunate outside of my family.

oh edyta! your quilts absolutely take my breath away! i just ‘discovered’ you this summer when i bought one of your books. i didn’t realize it but the log cabin kit i have been working on for years is your design! i bought it at lolly’s in shipshewana when i was at the indiana state quilt guild retreat. i finally finished it!!! i am signing up for the gathering in march and i heard that you are the speaker! i cannot wait!
i am praying for peace and family this christmas. we are looking forward to our kids coming home — from spain next week (our daughter studied abroad this semester), notre dame, charlotte, NC. our son will remain in mexico but we will see him in january. we are very blessed and we cherish whnever we can all be together. this christmas is especially poignant because we have lost several friends in the last two weeks — three in a plane crash the other an unexpected death. our twins’ friends were only 21. as a mom, i just want to ‘nest’ with our 5 children and our son-in-law.

Oh gosh, coming from someone that doesn’t really love snow all too much, ummmm ick. LOL But, you sure do look like you are enjoying it as well as all those kids. I sure hope you are in upper MI and not too far down near the lower West MI. We have to make the drive over there soon to pick up my son from school. My husband is from Holland so I’ve seen some of the massive snowfalls they get over there from the lake snows. We’ve had nothing yet this year in Northern IL which is very strange. I am not complianing though.

ugh. I was so busy talking about snow that I neglected to add my Christmas wish as you requested. I cannot locate anywhere to email you nor a way to delete my first post so I’ll add this one. My wish is not for anything for me but, it is for my son’s fiance. I wish that she continues with her health and that the baby, our Granddaughter, will grow and not have any effects of the meds she’s forced to take for her multiple health problems that have arisen since she became pregnant. We’re all very concerned as she’s had a terrible pregnancy so far and is being watched by mutliple specialists from all sorts of different areas of the medical field. So my wish is for her to carry this baby to term and for her to be healthy when born and for Momma to do just as well as I’m worried for her too.
My wish is that everyone have a wonderful Holiday season – and remember that it’s REALLY just about family and friends, spending time together and appreciating each other. It’s NOT about more gifts, or who has the best food, or the best parties.

Love your soon to come fabric-Snow Days. We live in MN so have gotten snow already also. It is so beautiful, covering all the brown fields that look dead.
My husband and I feed the birds, squirrels, rabbits and other wild critters that come into our yard and so that they don’t become a “buffet” for the “preowned” and feral cats in the neighbourhood we also feed the kitties…yesterday a tiny kitten arrived, no more than 8 weeks old – scared, cold and very hungry! Who would just put out the door a tiny little thing like that/her ??? My wish would be for more responsible pet ownership and mandatory low cost or free spay/neuter programs!

Thanks for the recipe and block. Since I now live in sunny California, it was fun to see the pictures of the snow. We lived in the Midwest for 62 years before moving here two years ago. Much as we love the pictures of the snow, we don’t miss shoveling and driving in blizzards on slippery roads. My Christmas wish is for peace and stability in our country.

My brother-in-law has been in the hospital for the past 6 weeks. He is finally starting to heal and gain strength. My wish and prayer is that he’ll be well enough to come home for Christmas. Anything else will be gravy.
My wish is to enjoy the true meaning of Christmas and to start some new traditions as we lost our Mom this year and we traditionally all went home for Christmas.
My Christmas wish is for my daughter to drive home safely (an 8 1/2 drive from college)!
