Welcome back to our Super Bloom Block of the Month.
I hope your summer has been filled with beautiful blooms and that you’ve been enjoying and working hard on your blocks.
I can’t believe that we’re already two-thirds of the way through our blocks!
Today, we will be making Block 6.
Grab your Super Bloom Pattern and laser-cut Block 6 package, or maybe you would like to cut your own pieces – lets get started!
Begin by making your Flying Geese Units using 2 small, dark blue HSTs (Half Square Triangles) and 1 light QST (Quarter Square Triangle).
Sew the right side and push the seam allowance towards the light QST.
Pin and sew the left side, this time pushing the seam allowance towards the HST.
Trim your unit using your favorite Creative Grids Ruler and rotary. Or if you would like, the Bloc-Loc Flying Geese Ruler works wonderfully as well! Repeat 3 times to create 4 Flying Geese.
Next, we will be making our QST units using 2 light QSTs and 2 pink QSTs each.
I like to use the chain sewing technique when I am assembling these pieces. Remember to always keep pink on the bottom with light on the top.
Press them open and push the seam allowances towards pink.
Sew them together to create a QST unit, and repeat 3 more times.
For additional details or guidance, please visit our YouTube channel.
Next, arrange 1 Flying Geese and 1 QST unit as shown above.
Sew the units together and push your seam allowance towards the QST unit. Repeat until you have done all 4 of these units.
Our next unit is one of my personal favorites, a cute little 9 patch. Select 4 light, 2 light blue, and 3 dark blue squares.
Arrange your squares and sew them into three rows.
Sew these rows together then press and square your 9 patch unit.
We can start arranging all of the units as shown above around the block’s center square.
Finally, sew your units into rows and then sew rows together and press.
Look at us go! We are flying through our Super Bloom Blocks, I am so excited for you!
Enjoy the last few warm days by finding some super blooms in your neighborhood.
Happy Quilting!
