Welcome to the 12th day of our Mystery Quilt! As you’re making these blocks do you have some favorites? Maybe you’d like to make a few extra to make a cute pillow for your couch to match your new quilt?
I had so much fun making the pillows above for my couch and our “Pillow Talk” book.
But for now let’s focus on the next block so we can finish this project!
For block 12, you will need: (choose the fabrics shown above from your Super Bloom bundle)
10″ dark blue square
10″ blue square
10″ pink square
Fat eighth light fabric
We will be making 4 blocks. The cutting directions are listed below:
12 – 2″ x 2″ dark blue squares
8 – 2″ x 2″ blue squares
4 – 2″ x 2″ pink squares
8 – 2″ x 2″ light squares
16 – 2″ x 3-1/2″ light rectangles
Join two 2″ dark blue squares and two 2″ light squares to make 1 four-patch.
Push seam allowance toward dark blue.
Pin, sew, open the seam in the back, and press. For more details, visit our YouTube channel.
Start by sewing two 2″ x 3-1/2″ light rectangles on either side of your four patch unit as shown above.
Arrange 1 dark blue, 2 blue, and 1 pink 2″ squares to two light 2″ x 3-1/2″ rectangles as shown above
Sew into rows using a 1/4″ seam allowance and press your seam allowance toward the rectangles.
Don’t forget to lock your seams and pin!
Sew rows together and press your block. Trim and square your block to 6-1/2″, I love using my 6-1/2″ Creative Grids ruler and OLFA Spinning Mat to trim these blocks.
Repeat until you have completed 4 Mystery Quilt Block 12s.
Our twelfth blocks will be positioned as shown above in our Mystery Quilt! Note position of pink square fabric in quilt layout.
With spring just around the corner I’m already looking forward to April Showers and Rainbows!
I think that’s why “Summer Village” makes me so happy!
Happy Quilting, Edyta
