I hope you find your favorite Blue Spruce.
Below is all the information you need to prepare and cut your fabric for this week.
I will be using the Forest Green Roll and the Mystery Background Bundle.
If you need a little extra, Robin Egg Blue Roll could be the perfect shades for your pines.
For Week 2, you will need:
(These notions are just my recommendations)
• Fabrics
• Sew Daisy Fabric Markers (Use fabric markers to stay organized)
• Templates - Pinehurst
• Creative Gird Ruler: 4½" x 12½"
• Aurifil Thread – 2370 recommended
• Olfa Rotary and Blades
Edyta’s Tip: Always have a stash of fresh blades for your rotary and remember to change yours often. for the cleanest cuts.

The Forest
14½" x 58½" unfinished
Cutting Directions:
Cut in a variety of pine tree colors:
• 10 - 3½" x 10½" rectangles for large pine
• 6 - 4½" x 9" rectangles for medium pine
• 2 - 3¾" x 6½" rectangles for small pine
• 15 - 2½" x 6½" rectangles for large scrappy pines
• 14 - 1½" squares for tree trunks
• 2 - 1" x 1½" rectangles for small tree trunks
Cut background sashing fabric: (A-609-N)
• 8 A - 5½" x 3½" rectangles
• 1 B - 4½" x 5½" rectangle
• 2 C - 4½" x 2" rectangles
• 2 D - 4½" x 4" rectangles
• 1 E - 3½" x 5¾" rectangles
• 1 F - 3½" x 2¼" rectangles
• 1 G - 3½" x 7½" rectangle
• 16 H - 1½" x 2½" rectangles for large pine trunk background
• 6 I - 1½" x 2" rectangles for medium pine trunk background
• 4 J - 1½" x 1¾" rectangle for small pine trunk background
Fold remaining fabric in half, right sides together, and cut tree backgrounds
8 Template K and 8 Template K reversed - 8 pairs for large pine
• 3 Template L and 3 Template L reversed - 3 pairs for medium pine
• 2 Template M and 2 Template M reversed - 2 pairs for small pine
Cut background sashing fabric: (A-612-LN)
• 3 Template L and 3 Template L reversed - 3 pairs for medium pine
• 6 I - 1½" x 2" rectangles for medium pine trunk background
Large Pine Tree Block Assembly
Arrange two 3½" x 10½" green rectangles into pairs.
Sew together and press.
Make 5 units.
Sew and press five 2½" x 6½" green rectangles together as shown above.
Make 3 units.
Use your templates to cut large pines from units as shown above.
Select one large pine unit, one pair of background pieces K, and two 2½" x 1½" background rectangles and one 1½" tree trunk for each large pine.
Sew background pieces to the tree and tree trunk.

Sew top and bottom together and press. Large Pine Tree size: 5½" x 11½" unfinished.
Repeat steps to make a total of 5 split and 3 striped large pine trees.
Medium Pine Tree Block Assembly
Using templates for medium and small pine trees, cut 6 medium and 2 small pine trees.
Arrange one medium pine tree, one pair of background pieces L, and two 2" x 1½" background rectangles and one 1½" tree trunk for each medium pine.
Sew background pieces to the tree and tree trunk.
Sew top and bottom together and press.
Medium Pine Tree size: 4½" x 9½" unfinished.
Repeat steps to make a total of 6 medium pine trees.
Now you are a pro at making at wandering through the forest of scraps!
Select correct pieces and follow the same steps and create 2 small pine trees.
Small Pine Tree size: 3½" x 7½" unfinished.
Arrange 8 large, 3 medium, and 2 small pine trees and background rectangles.
Set aside 3 medium pine tree units with the background sashing fabric: (A-612-LN) until further directions in upcoming weeks.
Sew pine trees and backgrounds into columns.
Sew columns together and press.
When you venture out there, there is nothing like the trees and forest!

This is such a cute pattern. I’ve cut and sewn up the trees but need clarification on the finished sizes of the tree blocks. If cut to the size as stated there seems to be no seam allowance left. I’m misunderstanding something for sure here. Anyone able to straighten me out on this? Thanks
